Early Career Researchers in ICT are invited to register for the Newton Fund Research Links Workshop on Disaster Management: An Information and Communication sTechnology Approach with 5G-and-Beyond Communications and Networks, to be held in Istanbul Turkey, 18th – 21st September 2017.

This workshop aims to support international development-relevant research with a focus on ICTs that improve the capacity of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery from disasters, or effective and robust communications during/after a disaster. This will contribute enormously to protecting the vulnerable population. On the other hand, the workshop will help both countries enhance the international development in ICTs. The workshop will also foster recent advances on 5G wireless communications and networking.

Participants must be Early Career Researchers (ECRs) based in either the UK or Turkey. ECRs are defined as holding a PhD (or having equivalent research experience) in Information and Communications Technology, and having up to 10 years post-PhD research experience, with consideration given to career breaks.

You must apply before Friday 26th May 2017 and you will notified of the outcome of your application by 31st May 2017.

Note: The British Council will cover the costs related to the participation to the Workshop, including: travel (both international and local), accommodation and meals. Costs for the visa will also be covered; however the UK participants will be responsible for getting the visa to enter Turkey if required. Although this cost will not be covered by the British Council, participants are encouraged to purchase an adequate travel and medical insurance. The British Council accepts no responsibility for any problems which may occur when the participants are in-country.
